Case study: modernising a legacy ERP for a European manufacturer

Over the past nine months we partnered with a mid-market industrial manufacturer to replace a 15-year-old ERP front end with a modern, modular web platform — without disrupting production.

The constraints

The legacy system controlled order intake, shop-floor scheduling, and dispatch. Downtime windows were measured in minutes, and the existing data model could not be touched until the new UI was proven.

How we delivered

  1. A strangler-fig rollout that ran the old and new front ends side by side behind a reverse proxy.
  2. A read-through caching layer that absorbed traffic spikes during the transition.
  3. Automated regression tests against the legacy database so every release could be verified end-to-end.

The result

  • ~40% reduction in order-entry time.
  • Zero unplanned downtime during the cut-over.
  • A foundation the client now extends with new modules every quarter.
